Congratulations to Nereida for completing her third co-lead in her quest to become an AOC trip leader.  It was a perfect morning to get some mileage in before the heat of the day became oppressive.  We moved quickly to get the heart rates up and only stopped a couple of times for water breaks.  And Island Ford never fails to offer a surprise:  this morning it was a dead bat on the side of the trail.  Or perhaps it was nearly dead.  We didn't stop too long to find out.
