Sun, Sep 1 2013 - Sunday Morning at Pine Log Creek Trail (View Original Event Details)
|
Write-up by Sheri:
A little drizzle wasn't going to stop the dozen new and long-timer AOCers who joined this morning to enjoy the trails through Pine Log Creek. The mushrooms were varied and as plentiful as the poison ivy which Joyce was sure to point out to the group. We started fast and furious with the west loop where the chit chat seemed to quiet down for some reason...maybe it was the climb and the humidity! By the time we entered the easier east loop of the trail, the chatter abounded. Joyce wasn't the only photographer on board today, and everyone who brought cameras had them out at the beautiful quarry. The water was perfectly still, which facilitated a perfect reflection of a huge rock protrusion - many thought it looked much like an aligator opening its mouth (what an imaginitive and fun group we had!). Our after hike lunch spot of choice, SWheat in Cartersville, was closed for the Labor Day weekend, so we went for plan B at Armando's Italian Restaurant in Cartersville. We were not disappointed. Folks enjoyed delicious fresh salads, yummy garlic bread, veggie pizzas, lasagna and more, but most of all great company.
