Sat, Sep 14 2013 - Trekking New (and old) Trails at Cochran Mill (and Maybe Cupcakes) (View Original Event Details)
|
What a treat Cochran Mill Park turned out to be for our group. The park was new to all of us (except John) and we had a great time seeing the many sights of the area - - the little cemetery, the waterfalls, the ruins, the creeks, the Nature Center (with the awesome catfish pond and the birds of prey). Crossing the creek proved to be quite a humorous adventure for the group, with entertainment provided by Joyce. A hint for those hiking this trail in the future: just go barefoot across the creek and don't attempt to cross the log.
John knew the trails well, and provided excellent previews of what was to come as we made our way through the scenic pathways. His planning was perfect: we finished the 10.5 mile hike at exactly 2 pm, allowing ample time for the some of the group to drive to Serenbe to dine at the Blue Eyed Daisy Bake Shop.
We became good friends with a delightful couple who celebrated their first AOC hike with us today: Bouchra and Karl. Welcome to the club, you two - - and thanks to all for a most enjoyable adventure.
