Sat, May 24 2014 - Camelopardalids meteor shower on on Brasstown Bald (View Original Event Details) Trip Leader(s): Tony C Participants: Tony C, Amy D

Ok so a beautiful night and early morning up on Brasstown Bald, but the meteor shower was underwhelming to say the least.  It turned out to be a dud of epic proportions.  But we had to give it a shot and AOC new member Amy joined me and we hiked up the road to the summit and enjoyed the nightime views with all the lights from Hiawasee and beyond, twinkling below us.   It was nice and cool up there too of course...in the mid 50s.

Then we went back down to the parking lot and relaxed and did some more stargazing.  We played around with the Android app and found Mars, Saturn, Vega and a few other celestial objects of interest.  

We headed back at about 5am and the sun came up right as we got back to metro ATL area.  So was a fun overnight adventure even though no payoff in the meteor dept.
