Sat, Aug 16 2014 - ** Saturday Stroll at Leone Hall Price Park (View Original Event Details)
|
What a lovely way to greet a splendid Saturday morning! We gathered at the picnic tables to introduce ourselves and share a little chit-chat about our previous outdoor adventures. Then, off we went into the quiet forest of Leone Price Park. We all agreed to do the scavenger hunt (available on the park's website) and quickly found most of the items on the list, including a butterfly, beaver dam, flower sprouting, sweet gum ball, and spiderweb. Other items (a frog, beetle, and worm) were more elusive and will have to be sought on a return trip.
We appreciated finding the big bend, twin pines, and meeting tree, stopping for photos in these spots. We savored the ecological diversity this park has to offer, from meadows parched by blazing sunlight, to the muddy banks of the gurgling creek, to the cool deep of the woods. Welcome to Angie and Erin on their very first hike with the AOC. Thanks to Ben for offering his experience with these trails, and to Marti and Richard for sharing tales of international outdoor escapades.
We even exchanged tips and laughs on how to pose for a fabulous photo! :-) Thanks to all of you for a wonderful walk.
