Write Up:
Fourteen friendly AOCers gathered at 10AM with their bikes at Lisa Santore's beautiful Wilshire Estates Clubhouse in Peachtree City. The weather turned out to be very pleasant despite a forecast of showers -- partly cloudy with temperatures in the 70's and low 80's and a comfortable breeze. After introductions Lisa led us on a delightful 15-mile ride on the gently rolling asphalted cart paths that meander through Peachtree City's shady woodlands. I (Charlie) rode "sweep" for the group, and our friend (Peachtree City resident) Bob Drakes also assisted in coordinating the ride. We stopped at several scenic lakeside spots to rest, re-hydrate, chat, take photos, and share "fowl company" with the many songbirds, ducks, great blue herons, and redwinged blackbirds.

Our only minor "bike casualty" fortunately happened within a couple of miles of our return to the clubhouse when Sonja's chain on her trusty old 10-speed suddenly decided to fracture. A couple of the guys volunteered to trade bikes with Sonja and help her coast her disabled bike the rest of the way back to the clubhouse "scooter-style" by putting their weight on the left pedal and scooting the bike along using the other foot. Also, we regret that Michlene wasn't feeling well early in the ride and had to turn back -- hope you can join us again next time, Michlene!

By about 12:45 we were safely back at the clubhouse and pool where we enjoyed about 3 more leisurely hours together with a delicious "poolside potluck cookout," light conversation in the shade of the breezy pool pavilion, and a refreshing swim in the large pool.

Many thanks to Lisa for treating us to such a nice ride and the delights of her clubhouse, pavilion, grill, and pool afterward! We look forward to more AOC adventures in Peachtree City in the future.
