Thu, Nov 6 2014 - Thursday Morning Hike at Island Ford (View Original Event Details)
|
Congratulations to Daveo for his first successful co-lead as a Potential Trip Leader! Here's his account of the hike:
We had 16 adventurous hikers today, despite the early morning bad weather. Before we started we had a light rain, but everyone was prepared with rain gear and umbrellas. After about 15 minutes on the trail, the rain stopped and by the time we took our first water break, all the rain gear was off! The wind picked up some, and the leaves started to float down on us, but it was very tranqul. Best of all, the sun came out, glistening through the trees, bright blue skies above, and it turned out to be just a phenomenal day. We hiked 5 miles at a moderate pace and as tradition has it for this hike, Mike C. lead a bunch of members to the North River Tavern for the $5.99 Triple By-Pass Hamburger, with fries, for lunch. ~ Daveo
