Sat, Dec 13 2014 - Island Ford on Twelve Thirteen Fourteen (View Original Event Details)
|
After a brief pause to appreciate the beauty of Island Ford with each of our five senses at 15:16:17, we set off along the river and through the woods. Hearing a rustling in the dry leaves, we peered up the hill and were rewarded with the sight of a small herd of deer grazing very close to us. There was at least one young fawn experiencing her first winter.
We enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather, shedding layers at our first water break. We practically had the trails to ourselves and wondered if the rest of Atlanta was out holiday shopping. We unanimously agreed that we would rather be in the woods than in the mall! And we burned enough calories to guiltlessly enjoy our figgy pudding or potato latkes. Happy 12/13/14!
