Itinerary:

 

If you're up for an early morning trail run and want to log in some miles for the weekend, or simply want to take a pleasant scenic jog along the river and natural surroundings, come join us at Cochran Shoals on Saturday.  What better way to start the weekend!  Cochran Shoals is next to the Chattahoochee River where people run, walk, hike, ride bikes, and walk dogs.  The trail heads north along the river; the Cochran Shoals Fitness Trail is a 3-mile loop with the parking area at Columns Drive as the halfway point.

Our goal will be to run 1-6 miles at your own pace and desired distance.  Cochran Shoals has mile markers posted through the trail.

Notes:

  • All natural and cultural features are FEDERALLY protected.
  • Stay on the designated trails.
  • No bikes on trails unless specifically noted.
  • Pets must be on a leash at all times.
  • Be aware of rapid rising water levels.
  • No glass containers on the river.
  • Park Unit is closed to public use at dark.

    Please remember a $3.00 daily or $25.00 annual Park Pass is required on parked vehicles in the National Park.

We will meet near the trailhead gate, next to the pay station machine.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:
From I-75 north, take I-285 (the perimeter highway) east towards Augusta. Exit soon at Northside Drive; turn left on Northside Drive, which circles around and crosses onto Interstate North Parkway. [From I-85 north, Take I-285 west, exit Northside Drive, which crosses onto Interstate North Parkway.] River parking lots are next to bridge off Parkway; parking fees may apply. The trail heads north along the river; the Cochran Shoals Fitness Trail is a 3-mile loop with the parking area at Columns Drive as the halfway point. Columns Drive itself can be combined for an 8-miler. Hours are from dawn to dusk.
