Coosa Foilage A La Carte: Trail Run OR Fast Hike It!

Join us for a pleasant day on the 13.7 mile Coosa Backcountry Trail starting at Vogel State Park. Lots of hills, trees, foliage, and views!

For this event, both fast hikers and trail runners are welcome to join us! One trip leader will lead the trail runners and the other will lead the fast hikers.

This is a strenuous trail and only those in excellent physical condition should participate.

This hike and run is recommended for hikers and trail runners with previous long distance hikes or trail runs of 10 or more miles in the mountains.

Note: Because of the time and distance, our breaks will be minimum.

Required Items to Bring:

Good hiking shoes/boots or trail running shoes for the runners

Lots of Gatorade or water - you will want to stay hydrated!

Snacks/small lumch

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

Hiking poles, hydration pack, etc.

Take GA 400/US 19 north to Dahlonega. We will make a pit stop in Dahlonega at the McDonald's there. It will be on your left on US 19. Then take US 19 north to where it joins US 129 at Turners Corner. Continue north on US 19/129 for 11 miles to Vogel State Park.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $50.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
