Chattooga River Trail with optional swim

This will bea fun leisurely hike along the Chattooga River Trail.  We'll start at the parking lot at the US 76 bridge.  From there, we'll cross the bridge and follow the trail up the Georgia side of the river.  Since the trail roughtly parallels the river, elevation gain is modest at best.  At approximately the 4 mile point, we'll reach a large camping spot right onthe river with a nice place to eat lunch and a small sandy beach.  A perfect opportunity for a midday dip in the river.  After lunch and a quick swim, we'll return to the cars on the same trail.  Before we leave the parking lot, those who wish can hike another 200 yards down to the viewpoint for Bull Sluice  Rapid, a big class IV rapid, and take some pictures and maybe see someone paddling the rapid.

We can have a max of 2 well behaved dogs on the trip.

From carpool, Take I85 north to I985.  Follow this all the way to Clayton, GA.  In Clayton,turn right on US76.  Follow approx 6 miles to Chattooga River bridge and state line.  Immediately after crossingthe bridge, turn left into parking lot.
