Itinerary:

!!!!!  Update May 12 - Slots available  !!!!!

Trip is this Sat May 13 - Sun May 14 in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Experience an intimate overnight stay in the beautiful Smokey Mountains in a way that most people will never be able to, without even having to put up a tent!

At 6500’ above sea level, the historic log cabin village atop LeConte is the highest lodge east of the Rocky Mountains, and is accessible only via five beautiful hiking trails.

A big part of the Lodge’s attraction is one’s sense of pride in reaching it, as there is no other available way but to hike up one of its five beautiful trails.

A lot people end their hike at the lodge, however, to reach the true summit of Mount LeConte, you still need to walk almost another half-mile.

The mountain is especially famous for its beautiful sunrises and sunsets, so don’t forget your cameras!  We may take a sunrise hike to Myrtle point and a sunset hike to Cliff Top.

All the beds are queen size bunk beds (double occupancy per bed).

Sign-ups are in groups of  two people - two people who will be sharing a single bed.

There are no solo spaces available on this trip.

Trip includes: Overnight lodging (shared queen bed) in the historic furnished log cabins.
Hearty dinner at 6 pm Saturday and breakfast at 8 am Sunday served in the quaint dining hall.
Multiple glasses of wine are available for $11.

Hiking note: I am leading the group hike up and down the Rainbow Falls trail, but you may choose to take another trail and meet us at the lodge.  The bullhead trail is closed due to fire damage.

Saturday - Meet at 8:45 am at the Rainbow Falls Trail parking lot.
Start hiking at 9 am on the Rainbow Falls Trail 7 miles and 4000 feet up to Mt Leconte Lodge. Hikers can start earlier if you want more time on the trail.
Free time after arriving and checking in, possible climb to Myrtle Point for more views.
Dinner at 6 pm in the dining hall - soup, beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, stewed apples, peach half and chocolate chip cookies.
Free time after dinner, possible hike to Cliff Top for sunset viewing.

Sunday - Free time before breakfast, possible hike to Myrtle Point for the sunrise.
Breakfast at 8 am in the dining hall - scrambled eggs, Canadian Bacon, biscuits, pancakes, grits and Tang.
Depart after breakfast for the hike down the Rainbow Falls Trail 7 miles and 4000 feet decent to the trailhead parking lot.
