Please READ the following CAREFULLY!! Ever wanted to push yourself to the limit and see how far you can hike in less than 24 hours, then come and join me on the exciting Quad State Challenge!! (This is an un-official challenge). THIS IS A WAITLIST ONLY EVENT AND IT WILL HAVE A MINIMUM OF TWO PEOPLE AND A MAX OF 4 PEOPLE. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. All registrants shall initially be placed on the wait list so that the Trip Leader can evaluate the registrant’s fitness and experience level. Our hike begins on the AT in Pen-Mar, PA and then follows the
Appalacian Trail south bound through Maryland, West Virginia and then
finishes exactly four steps into Virginia for a total of 42.9 miles, we will then
hike the 2-3 miles back to our parked rental car in Harpers Ferry. The hike will be broken down into three stages: Stage 1: We will begin at Pen-Mar around 6pm and hike late into the evening until we cross highway 70, on the other side of Highway 70 we will set-up our hamocks and rest for one hour, including rehydrating. Stage 2: After resting we will hike through the early hours of the morning until day break, if we are making good time we will rest somewhere between Washington Monument State Park (good water source available) and Gathland State Park (good water source available). Stage 3: After our rest of approximately one hour we will continue through Maryland and then complete the short West Virginia Section of the AT (there will be a chance to purchase a sugary snack from the store in town) before a short climb to the Virginia border where we will hike exactly four steps past to complete the challenge. We will have a short rest then hike approximately 2-3 miles back to the car and give each other high fives....what more of an achievement could you want!!! :) This event will go ahead rain or shine, but not in severe weather. ** See Additional Notes below. | |||||||

You will need to purchase a round-trip air ticket to Baltimore Airport, MD
and meet me there by 12pm on the 9th of June. Your return trip should be
anywhere from the 11th June onwards (if you book a return flight on the
11th it would be preferably after 2pm). Further details will be provided after
sign up. I will take care of the and pay for hire car out of my own money (no cost to AOC members) and book the shuttle from Harpers Ferry to Pen-Mar. The shuttle costs $100 for up to 4 people and the cost will be divided by the number of people attending. If someone cancels then the cost of your share would go up. * We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events. | |||||||
