Itinerary:
Cochran Shoals and Sope Creek Combo (see map below)
Join us for brisk 7.3 mile hike thru both Cochran Shoals and Sope Creek Loops. Our plan is to meet at 1955 Eugene Gunby Road park entrance at 7:50am for introductions and begin our journey at 8:00am.
 
The Cochran section is mostly flat but there are hills in the Sope Creek section.  Our elevation gain will be about 700 ft.  This is a beautiful river hike along a wide path beside the river until we come to the Sope Creek section where we find a more normal hiking path (and some mountain bikers - so be alert). You should plan on breaking a sweat from this hike, so no sauntering allowed, but don't worry we won't be running either.
 
We'll take a break at the half way point near the top end of the hike.
 
Note: as this hike is 7.3 miles, and will be done at a brisk pace with few stops, it MAY NOT be for those who are beginner hikers.
 
There are restrooms at the starting location. The parking lot is large, but this is a popular location so arrive early to get your spot.  WE'LL GATHER AT 7:50AM JUST INSIDE THE GATE FOR INTRODUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING AT 8:00 SHARP.  
 
YOU'LL NEED $3.00 or a CRNRA annual parking pass $35.  They have a machine here where you can buy the yearly pass with your credit card.
 

Required Items to Bring:

Water, Hiking Shoes, rain gear as needed, a SMILE on your face
