Itinerary:

From the parking lot, we will walk .4 miles to Confederate Hall inside the park. From there we will walk clockwise around Stone Mountain following Cherokee Trail most of the time. We will also take a side trail called the Nature Trail. We can stop to eat lunch under one of my favorite beech trees in the park, which will be at close to the 2 hour mark. We'll walk another 15 minutes to complete the loop (about 5 miles). After that, we will then walk up the mountain if the weather cooperates, which would add another 2.5 miles to the walk, bringing the total up to approximately 8 miles.

Stone Mountain, GA at the Marta park N ride parking area south of intersection at E. Mountain St. and Fourth St. Proceed on Druid Hills to US 78 East (Stone Mountain Freeway). Continue east on US 78. Merge onto GA 10 W/ Stone Mountain via Exit 5. Proceed 0.5 miles on GA 10 to the first exit. At the end of the ramp turn left. Go .7 miles to 2nd light, turn left on E. Mountain St in Stone Mtn Village. Go .1 miles take right on Fourth St, and about 150' on left is entrance to Marta Park N Ride parking lot (free).
