Are you passing on this year's Peachtree Roadrace but would still like to get in some morning exercise? Wear your red, white, and blue and come join me for a patriotic holiday hike at this beautiful park.

We'll be starting the hike promptly at 9 am to give you plenty of time in the afternoon for holiday picnics and fireworks in the evening. Please arrive 10 minutes early so that we can get started on time.

The Vickery Creek section of the Chattahooche National Recreation Area contains many miles of interconnected hiking trails. Our plan is to hike about five miles miles of these trails which include some sections of rocks and roots as well as some easy-to-maneuver sections.

This will be a moderately paced hike. It is not recommended for true beginners or for folks who can't handle a moderate pace on hilly, often rocky terrain. If you're new to the AOC or haven't done any D2's, I may call you to check on your ability to handle the hike. I won't leave anyone behind, so we will have to hold up the group if someone can't keep up.

We will be starting and parking in the lot on Oxbo Road. It is free to park at this location! Directions below. There are no bathrooms here, but we'll be passing bathrooms during our hike. We can stop for a break there for those who need to use the restroom.

We will meet at the Oxbo parking lot on Oxbo Road, off of Route 9/120, Atlanta Street, Roswell GA. There is a gas station on the corner of Atlanta Street and Oxbo where you have to turn. The Oxbo lot is on your right about 1/2 mile down the road.
