EVENT PLAN: Frazier-Rowe is a beautiful DeKalb County park here in NE Atlanta near Emory University. Since its founding in 2013 dozens of hard-working "Friends of the Park" volunteers have built and continuously improved its extensive network of scenic trails. On this easy but adventurous 5-mile hike we'll explore all of the new trails and most of of the older ones. including those that meander along the creeks and through the adjoining "Coralwood" forest. We'll extend the hike along some of the shady sidewalks in the Park's quiet adjoining "Oak Grove" neighborhood. Gorgeous fall weather is expected with sunny skies and ideal hiking temperatures in the mid-70s. WHERE & WHEN? We'll meet a few minutes before 2:00 PM at the Frazier-Rowe Park trailhead. See easy detailed directions below and for a zoomable map or satellite view click above on the square blue & green "Event Location" icon. The trailhead and its bulletin board adjoin the free parking lot at "Sprig Restaurant " in the Vista Grove Plaza shopping center. CANINE COMPANIONS are OK. Bring your well-behaved dog if you like, but please make sure that he or she is leashed and under your control at all times, and please in your registration notes indicate it's size, breed, name, etc. ABOUT the PARK: Named for two neighboring families of different ethnicity who lived in harmony there in the mid-20th century, Frazier-Rowe Park is owned by DeKalb County and occupies about 10 acres of forest. Founded in 2013, its trail network and floral gardens, bridges and other structures have been built, planted and maintained by hundreds of hard-working local citizens and Boy Scout troops, etc. Our "Friends of Frazier-Rowe Park" group was awarded a $10,000 "prize grant" for its excellent use of volunteerism - affirming that ordinary people of all ages can make a big difference when working together toward a common goal. Hikers can easily connect to other scenic trails in the same forest that adjoin Coralwood Elementary School.
