Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue. This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.
Itinerary: | |||||||
Join me in exploring some of the trails that middle Georgia has to offer. This trip will involve hiking several trails with a short drive between each. We'll start by heading southtowards Macon, GA to Bond Swamp National Wildwile Refuge. We'll start at the Longleaf Pine Trail. This trail is a 1.9 mile "lollipop" with nice views of southern pine forests. Next, we'll make a short drive to the Beaver Swamp Trail. This is a figure 8 trail approximately 1.5 miles. After hiking both of these trails, we'll make a short drive to the Ocmulgee National Monument. Ocmulgee National Monument preserves mounds built by Native Americans over 1000 years ago and has evidence of 17,000 years of human habitation. There are approximately 6 miles of trails here and depending on the timing, we'll hike 3 to 6 miles, seeing as many of the mounds and historic sites before heading home. Disclaimer: This is all new to me, but I think it will be a fun winter hike. Dogs are allowed with a 3 dog max, but must be on leash at all times.

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
