Like Peaches & Herb, the Palisades will be reunited at last.

Join us for a nine mile circumnavigation of West & East Palisades.

We will begin & end at the Paces Mill (west palisades) unit off of Cobb Parkway.

We meet at the Paces Mill parking area at 3444 Cobb Parkway SE, Atlanta 30339 at 9:50 am.  The gathering spot will be at the sitting area between the parking lot and the bathroom.

We will pass the following: west palisades long island shoals, west palisades akers mill trail parking lot, akers mill rd, powers ferry rd bridge over the chattahoochee, rays on the river, unmarked trail past rays, east palisades rock overlook, east palisades wooden deck overlook & big action hill, east palisades beach, east palisades trail to I-75 bridge, unmarked trail to cobb parkway bridge, back to paces mill parking lot to complete the loop.

This is a D3 hike due to one steep section that involves scrambling uphill, a short section over rocks, some hiking through unmaintained trails with downed logs, and about 700 feet of elevation gain/loss. Part of the hike is on unofficial social trails, roads, and sidewalks. 

Hikers should be comfortable walking on dirt, rocks, concrete, and asphalt.

We will take a short snack break at the famous east palisades rock overlook.

Please remember to bring $3 for the National Park Service parking fee or a Chattahoochee NRA annual pass.

From I-75 North

Take Exit 256, Mt. Paran Road. Left on Mt. Paran Road to U.S. 41 (Northside Parkway). Turn right on U.S. 41 for 1 mile cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate right onto entrance road.

From I-75 South

Take Exit 256, Mt. Paran Road. Right on Mt. Paran Road to U.S. 41 (Northside Parkway). Turn right on U.S. 41 for 1 mile cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate right onto entrance road.
