Itinerary: | |||||||
Lake Lanier Islands has waived the gate entry fee from May 5 - May 24 so let's go hike Lake Lanier's largest island. We'll hike the Blue Ridge Extreme Trail which is right at 6.3 miles. The trail is gorgeous and runs right along the shoreline of the lake for the majority of the hike. This is not a hike for beginners but it is not a difficult D3 either. There is about 1100 feet of elevation gain so just make sure you can handle the distance and elevation. We will hike the Blue Ridge Extreme Trail. Description from the website: Blue Ridge ExtremeHike along the edge of Blue Ridge Island on a trail forged by deer migrations and natural wildlife. This six mile pathway of rugged terrain winds in and out of secluded coves and peninsulas of the Resort's largest island. You will enter through the main gates, stay on Lanier Islands Pkwy at the roundabout you will circle around it and take the second "exit" staying on Lanier Islands Pkwy and follow until another small roundabout, look to your left and you'll see a small cabin for the Canopy Tours. There is a parking lot across the street from the Canopy Tours cabin. GPS Coordinates for parking lot: 34.17370520876133,-84.03723474240905 Go to Google maps and paste the bolded text. It will show you exactly where the parking lot is located. *If you are meeting us at the event, please familiarize yourself with the meeting location and be on time. We will begin the hike on time.
