Join us for cooler temperatures and beautiful hiking for a Fall Pioneer camping experience at Cloudland Canyon. We have a full staff for set up, cooking, cleaning, and meal prep to give everyone a relaxing enjoyable weekend. At Cloudland we are going to an intimate 25 members. Plan on sleeping under the stars on a beautiful fall evening, enjoying good food, and having great conversation around the camp fire. We will enjoy a acoustic sing along for those that wish to bring musical instrutments. Saturday, there will be a hearty breakfast featurung Eggs, Pancakes, Bacon, and more Bacon, After breakfast we head out on the 4.8 mile West Rim Trail with beautiful vistas of the canyon and rugged geology. We will have a provided lunch overlooking the countryside some 2000 feet below. Following the hike, for those interested with energy to spare, brave the infamous stairs down into the gorge to view two gorgeous waterfalls cascading into large pools (assuming there has been rain). The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Later, we will enjoy a 5 star cookout prepared by our AOC chefs, relax around the fire and enjoy more conversation and musical sing alongs. Sunday, it's a light breakfast and pack for home. We will have plenty of evening snacks and desserts to go along with our campfire. It just doesn't get any better! How to Get There: | |||||||
Event Directions: | (Gate closes at 10:00pm), Cloudland Canyon State Park, Pioneer Campsites (we have booked group camp sites 1&3). Everyone must check-in at the park office for a parking pass; late arrivals can check-in next morning. I-75 North to Exit 320, Hwy 136; left onto Hwy 136; continue on Hwy 136 thru LaFayette and Cooper Heights; continuing on Hwy 136, after passing Hwy 189, look for the park entrance on the right. A limited number of dogs will be permitted. The owner is responsible for the behavior and care of their dog. If the dog can not be controlled, the owner may have to remove the dog from the event. Dogs must be approved before the event by the trip leader!! Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC: - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event. - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid. - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant. - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event. - Read the event description carefully for additional information, and contact the trip leader(s) with any questions. * We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events. | |||||||

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review the AOC cancellation policy. *Note: If you cancel on or before Sept. 9th, full payment is refundable less a $5 administrative fee.
