Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue. This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.
Itinerary: | |||||||
ALL TIMES ARE EASTERN! Join me for a fun hike in the Dugger Mountain Wilderness, Alabama's second highest peak, standing strong at 2,140 feet! We will hike 6 miles to the Summit of Dugger Mountain via the Pinhoti Trail and return the way we came. The first section of this hike will get the heart pumping with a straight up ascent. Once we reach the top of the mountain we will stop for lunch and take in the views for 30 minutes or so. Since it's winter we should have great views across the Alabama countryside. This is a moderately strenuous D4, the trip leader will contact you to determine suitability if you have not completed any D4's recently. Trailhead Location: https://goo.gl/maps/dJjgNJAXJhF2 For those meeting at the Trailhead I plan to be there at approximately 10am Eastern Time.

Carpool Cost: | Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $62.40 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
