Itinerary:

This park opened on July 1st 2011 and is one of Georgia's newest state parks. It occupies 2,900 acres of varied natural land in western Coweta County, with seven miles of river frontage along the Chattahoochee River. This is one of the largest State Parks in Georgia.

We will walk a loop that will include parts of most trails in the park as well as a few back roads. Our plan is to hike at a moderate pace with time to enjoy our surroundings.

We will have lunch on the trail.

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

From I-85 North or South near Newnan, take Exit 47 Highway 34 (Bullsboro Boulevard). Go west 0.8 miles. Turn right onto Highway 34 Bypass (M. Farmer Industrial Road) at 4-way stop and go 8.2 miles. Turn right onto Thomas Powers Road and go 2.7 miles to a 4-way stop. The road name changes to Hewlett South Road. Continue straight 0.9 miles. Continue straight onto Bud Davis Road and go 1.9 miles. Turn right onto Flat Rock Road. The road name changes to Bobwhite Way. Continue straight to gated entrance of the park.

We will start our hike at the Park's office, Chattahoochee Bend State Park, 425 Bobwhite Way, Newnan , GA 30263

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $32.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
