It will be a gorgeous and hot Sunday - so join us!

Spectacular mountain scenery and hiking trails make this one of Georgia’s most popular state parks. At 729 feet, Amicalola Falls is the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast.

We will hike the AT Approach Trail and return back via the Len Foote route with an approx. 2,300 ft elevation gain. We will walk at a moderate speed with a few stragetic stops to have some water and regroup. A longer stop for our well-deserved lunch break at the Hike Inn is just one highlight we are all looking forward to! (approx. 30 - 40 minutes)

Please Note: I am recovering from an injury and will walk at a moderate pace - not too fast but not too slow either. --- This is not a self-paced hike, so you need to make sure you can walk at a moderate speed to stay with the group ---- However, if you are a faster hiker and know the trail, you may walk slightly ahead and regroup at the Hike Inn for lunch.

I will contact anyone I feel does not have adequate experience for this hike. Contact me if you aren't sure if you can do this hike or keep up with the group.

We will leave the carpool at Mansell Park and Ride at 8:00 am, so please be there 10 minutes early!!!

If there are not enough drivers, be prepared to drive yourself!!!

We will start the hike in the parking lot above the falls (Where the bathrooms are) at 9:15 am.

There is a $5.00 fee per car for the park.

Clothing appropriate for weather conditions (raincoat - just in case)
Snacks or lunch
Adequate water (1.5 - 2 L)

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $41.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

$5.00 State Park Fee unless you have an annual park pass.
