I'm hoping that we can get a hike in without rain on Friday morning. Please check your email and/or the AOC website by 6:30 am on Friday for a possible cancellation of the event. It would be nice to get in a little exercise if we can. Just how strong is that rain bubble?

Leita Thompson Memorial Park is a wide, well-shaded trail of soft gravel. There are rolling hills that can provide a good workout at a moderately fast pace (which we will maintain).

There are no bathrooms, but there are three porta-potties at various places in the park.

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the hike is scheduled to start to check inm as I start on time. There is no parking fee at this parking lot.

Required Items to Bring:

Water, gatorade or whatever you like to keep hydrated (important)

Comfortable hiking shoes

There are three parking lots in the area: one for the dog park, the second for the arts center and overflow lot, and the third for the pavillion lot. We will be parking in the second lot, to the left of the arts center. It's a big lot with plenty of parking spaces.

From Atlanta take GA-400 N to exit 7B W/Holcomb Bridge Rd in Roswell. Continue west on Holcomb Bridge Rd for 5.7 miles. On your right you will pass Chick-fil-a and Mountain Park Rd. Take the next right. This is the entrance for the dog park and Art Center West. Make an immediate left for the gravel overflow parking lot

If you pass this entrance, you will come to the main Leita Thompson entrance at the pavilion. You can turn in here and then take an immediate right up the gravel path to the overflow lot. Drive up the gravel road through the woods and park at the top of the hill.
