Itinerary:

Join me for a moderately paced 5-miler at Sope Creek.  We'll start at the elementary school parking lot and enter the park from a different trail than the one at the parking lot.  Although school will be in session, there should be ample parking places if you drive all the way to the left end of the lot . . . near the open field. 

We'll hike for a little over 2 hours, getting in at least 5 miles.  Some of the trails have lots of rocks and roots, and we may have to do a tiny bit of rock hopping across creeks . . .  but nothing significant.  Bring a hiking pole or two for security.

NOTE THAT WE'RE GATHERING IN THE SOPE CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARKING LOT!

If you bring your dog, it should be able to keep up with the group and interact well with other dogs and people. The Chattahoochee NRA requires that owners keep their dogs on a leash and clean up after their pets on the trails. Please be willing to keep your dog on leash out of consideration to other hikers, because it's the law and because the reputation of the AOC is damaged when members break the leash law.

Limit of 3 dogs, please!

The Sope Creek Elementary School parking lot is on Papermill Road, about 1/4 mile from Sope Creek parking lot.  If you're coming from Johnson Ferry Road, so about 1/2 mile past the Sope Creek bridge, to Sope Creek Elementary School on your left. If you're coming from I-75 on Papermill, it will be on your right at the traffic light at Shadowlawn Road.   When you turn into the school parking lot, go to the large lot on your left and park all the way at the end.
