Itinerary:

Let's do a sister hike to Russ's hike at Vickery Creek this morning. Russ will be starting at the other side of the park, so we might miss his group altogether; but we'll certainly have a lot of friendly greetings should we encounter them on the trails.

We'll cross Riverside Road and hike up a neighborhood hill into Vickery Creek, a park that offers a variety of trails and routes, beautiful views of the water along the creeks and at the dam, and occasional glimpses of wildlife. We'll keep a moderate pace with pauses for water along the way.

The trails at Vickery Creek are not easy. There are several hills as well as trails with lots of roots and rocks that would prove very challenging for inexperienced hikers. If you have no record with the AOC, I will email you to make sure you aren't getting in over your head on your first event!

Hiking poles are recommended, especially after recent rains!

Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to use the bathroom, check in, and do intros. No parking fees at this location.

PLEASE NOTE WE ARE STARTING AT RIVERSIDE PARK! There's plenty of free parking here and bathrooms are available! We'll cross the street and enter the Vickery Creek CRNRA from here.

From Northbound U.S. 19/Ga. 400
Take exit 6 for Northridge Road
Stay RIGHT onto Northridge Road crossing bridge
Take first RIGHT onto Dunwoody Place, go 1.3 miles
Turn RIGHT at Ga. 9 (Roswell Road), go 0.6 miles
Cross river turn RIGHT onto Riverside Road, cross the bridge and the park is on the right.

From Southbound U.S. 19/Ga. 400
Take exit 7 for Ga. 140 (Holcomb Bridge Road)
Turn RIGHT onto Ga. 140 East (Holcomb Bridge Road), go 0.2 mile
Turn LEFT at Dogwood Road, go 1.0 miles
Continue STRAIGHT on Riverside Road, go 1.0 mile
Turn LEFT at park entrance - - just before crossing the bridge at Atlanta Road.
