Itinerary:

Let's hike the Smith Creek Trail from Unicoi State Park following a historic gold mining ditch to Anna Ruby’s stunning double cascades. This out and back hike is 8.7 miles with 1800 feet of elevation gain. Once at the falls I like to hike further along Smith Creek to the restrooms which add an additional .8 of a mile round trip and 187 feet of elevation. It's worth the effort but this portion is optional. While at the falls we will enjoy our lunch and take photos.

We'll hike at a moderate pace, 2.5 overall. Faster for flats and downhills.

I believe we will easily complete this hike in the time indicated. It depends on how much time is spent at the falls. Please be flexible. :-)

Please observe CDC guidelines requiring folks bring a mask to wear when inside or when not able to distance.

There is no carpool for this event.

From Helen, go north on GA 356. You will cross Unicoi Lake Dam. Make the first left after you cross the dam. The parking area for the Smith Creek Trail is .5 miles on your right, across from the Little Brook campground.
