Itinerary:

Please join me for an early morning hike at Sope Creek .  We will start our hike promptly at 8:30 a.m. and hike for just over three hours and about 8.5 miles.   Hike will be at a moderate pace.  There are a few rolling hills, nothing super strenous.  We will hit most trails at Sope Creek, head into Cochran Shoals and take a new trail that I tried last time I was there (if anything like last time we'll have to walk in an office park for a few minutes and then pick up the trail again).

There are no restrooms at start of hike but we will stop at Columns Drive restrooms about midway into the hike, they are usually open but I can't guarantee.

COVID-19 - please be respectful to AOC members and other hikers on the trails - keep social distance at least six feet between yourself and your fellow hikers.  Please be advised that attendees of AOC events should have face coverings on their person, in the event they are unable to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet.

 There have been cases of vandalsm to vehicles so leave all valuables at home.

 

$5 parking fee required unless you have a CRNRA Annual pass.  Meet at the Sope Creek parking lot on Paper Mill Road.

Paper Mill Road entrance of the Chattahoochee  RIver National Recreational Area.

From eastbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • Left For 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road.
  • Left for 2.7 miles to the junction of Johnson Ferry Road and Paper Mill Road.
  • Left onto Paper Mill Road for 3.0 miles, entrance will be on the left.

From westbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • North For 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road.
  • Left for 2.7 miles to the junction of Johnson Ferry Road and Paper Mill Road.
  • Left onto Paper Mill Road for 3.0 miles, entrance will be on the left.
