Itinerary:

Of course, this event is dependent on state and local government direction and AOC Leadership direction.

We will adhere to any social distancing directives that may be in place.

 

This is not a beginners hike.

Start Time - 6:00

We are targeting a pace of 3 mph.

Let’s get a quick 6 in after work.  We’ll start at Sope Creek CRNRA.  From there we’ll wind our way down to Columns Drive, taking in a brief stop at the restrooms.  Then we’ll wind our way back to Sope Creek, including a quick lap of the pond.

The hike will be just over 6 miles and about 700 feet of total elevation gain.  We’ll be moving at a fast pace, averaging about 3 mph. 

There is a $5 parking fee at CRNRA parks or you can buy an annual pass for $40. There is a kiosk at the parking lot to purchase parking passes.

There are no restrooms at the parking area.


Required Items to Bring:

Good pair of hiking shoes or boots

Water or some hydration

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Coming from Sandy Springs or Roswell on Johnson Ferry Road, turn left on Paper Mill Road.   The turn is at the top of the big hill, after crossing the Chattahocohee River.  After you cross the bridge on Paper Mill Road, the entrance will be on your left as you are going up the hill.
