Gibbs Gardens in North Georgia is a beautiful set of landscaped gardens with flowers that bloom seasonally year round. At the time we visit we can expect to see Azaleas, Ferns, Roses, Hydrangeas, Waterlilies and Daylilies blooming, along with others. We will spend the morning enjoying their gardens and then may grab lunch before heading back to Atlanta. Going early on Sunday usually helps avoid crowds since other people often attend church at that time. I plan to bring my camera and stop to take lots of photos, so this will not be a fast-paced walk. We will take our time and really enjoy the gardens. Everyone else is encouraged to bring their cameras as well! Our first stops will be the Japanese Gardens and Manor House, before the rest of the crowds arrive, then we will continue on to the other areas. After we have visited most of the gardens, we will take a last stroll around the ponds to view the water lillies, which should have opened by then in the midday sunshine. Here's a link to a map of the property: https://www.gibbsgardens.com/visit/garden-map/ Please note: I'm marking this as a D1 event but there will be plenty of walking involved because the grounds are quite extensive. Per their website, they have 300+ acres of "artistically landscaped gardens surrounded by majestic forest, spring-fed ponds, streams, waterfalls and bridge crossings. Garden venues include four feature gardens including the Daffodil Gardens; the Manor House Gardens, designed to offer color in spring, summer and fall, with lush terraces, waterfalls, sweeping lawns and woodland; the Monet Waterlily Gardens, featuring 140 varieties of waterlilies blooming from late spring through fall; the Japanese Gardens spanning more than 40 acres with spring- fed ponds, islands, bridges, boulders, rocks and 40 handcrafted Japanese lanterns." Recently they've added an Inspiration Garden as well. Here is a link to their website with more information: http://www.gibbsgardens.com/ And here is a link to where you can purchase your tickets. Pleaes be sure to select the correct date and time for our visit (9:00 am on Sunday, June 6th): The gardens open at 9:00 am, so I plan to have us arrive at that time to try and stay ahead of the worst of the crowds. PLEASE BE ON TIME. We will want to enter as a group. The gardens are not currently accepting groups larger than 10 people, so unless that policy changes the group size will be strictly limited. NOTE: if you do not purchase your ticket online ahead of time, you will not be allowed entrance into the gardens. They do not sell tickets on site.
