Please join me at East Palisades for a Sunday morning hike.  We will be hiking approximateily 6 miles at a moderate pace (not super fast).   The Bamboo Forest is a must see for anyone that has not been to this park.   Spectacular views of the Chattahoochee River and surrounding area.  

(if you heard about the 'bad ass hill' don't worry, we will not attempt on this hike)

There are no restrooms at this location

See directions to the trailhead at 1425 Indian Trail NW - the road leading to the parking lot is very narrow - go very slow as there may be cars traveling in the opposite direction.

$5.00 daily parking fee unless you have an annual pass for the CRNRA parks.

Pass can be purchased at the Kiosk in the parking lot - I undersatnd that they don't take cash any longer - you should be able to scan a code with your phone and pay electroncially. or prior to hike go to this website and purchase a daily or annual pass   https://www.nps.go v/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm

 

COVID-19 - please be respectful to AOC members and other hikers on the trails - keep social distance at least six feet between yourself and your fellow hikers.  Please be advised that attendees of AOC events should have face coverings on their person, in the event  they are unable to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet.

From eastbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, and Powers Ferry Road.
  • Right on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
  • Go through Intersection at Powers Ferry Road and 1.1 Miles to Indian Trail.
  • Right On Indian Trail and will dead end at the unit's entrance.

 

 From westbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, and Powers Ferry Road.
  • Straight to the second traffic light.
  • Left onto Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
  • Go through the intersection at Powers Ferry and 1.1 miles to Indian Trail.
  • Right on Indian Trail and will dead end at the unit's entrance

From I-285 east, take exit 22 Northside Drive and turn right. Travel 1.2 miles to Indian Trail and turn right. Continue on the paved portion of Indian Trail for 0.4 miles. The road becomes a gravel road and continues for 0.3 miles to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Park parking lot. 

From I-285 west take Exit 16, Riverside Drive, South on Riverside Drive. Travel 0.5 miles, then bear right on Mount Vernon. At 1.2 miles turn left on Northside Drive. Indian Trail is on the right in 0.6 miles. Continue on the paved portion of Indian Trail for 0.4 miles. The road becomes a gravel road and continues for 0.3 miles to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Park parking lot.
