Itinerary:

We are going to do some backpack training, but for you, this is optional.  We will be walking at an average 2.0 pace.

We start the hike at the top of the falls on the AT Approach trail for about 4.5 miles at which point we hang a right on the Hike Inn Connector trail. After a mile on the HI connector trail, we arrive at the Inn. 

Please arrive a few minutes early as the hike will start promptly at 9:30AM.  Bring your lunch (eating at the Hike Inn) and a few dollars if you want to make a donation for some snack food at the Hike Inn.

This is a moderate to difficult loop hike with 2300 feet of elevation in 10.5 miles. I'll take a moderate pace, averaging 2.0 mph, slower on the ups and faster on the downs. I'll also stop at various points along the trail, especially intersections to regroup. 

If you do not have recent D4 experience, expect an email or phone call to determine your ability to complete the hike.

From the Mansell Park & Ride, take Georgia 400 North past the outlet Mall to GA 136. Turn left onto GA 136.  Then turn right onto GA 52.  The park entrance will be on the left.  Once in the park, follow the signs to the parking area above the falls. The parking lot is on the far side of the falls and has a sign for Hike Inn parking. There are restroom facilities at the trailhead.
