Itinerary:

Who wants to join your AOC buddies for a pre-turkey, fitness hike at Island Ford? If you have not been to Island Ford, it has varied surfaces of; root, rock and incline. 

We will start at Hewlett Pond Parking lot, (.6 miles from the entrance) the second entrance and hike to the river and thru the trails for at least 5 to 5.5 miles (let's see how we do).  We will take a few water breaks.  Get ready for a work out to make room for that turkey dinner, this is not a beginner hike.

It is $5 to park, you can either pay with your phone; or use your annual pass.  They sell the pass at the Visitors Center but not sure if they are open on holiday, so plan ahead.

Northbound from 400

Take exit 6 (Northridge Road).
Stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right. We are meeting at the second parking lot on the left.

Southbound from 400

Take exit 6 (Northridge Road)
Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.
