This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

UPDATE - EDITED: We didn't find the waterfall and I wasn't willing to bushwhack - so in order to get the elevation and mileage we completed a second trip on the West Trail, making our distance 6.5 and elevation gain at 1150'.

The Pine Log Creek Trail opened in November 2007 on 275 acres of protected Bartow County Greenspace. The trail features a 4.5 mile compacted soil path crossing seven rustic footbridges over Pine Log Creek.

We plan on doing both the East & West Loops plus side trails to total 6 miles including some exploratory hiking to a waterfall.  This should NOT involve bushwhacking.

From two overlooks, hikers can view Pine Log Mountain - one of the highest elevations in Bartow County's Appalachian foothills - and the site of the Pine Log Cherokee Indian Village. The trail system includes two loops east and west and is rated moderate to difficult with rugged terrain. The eastern loop takes hikers by an early CCC quarry pond for picturesque views (perhaps you'll see the frog!). Pine Log Creek Trail is open daylight to dusk to hikers only.

UPDATED:  Near as we can tell, this is NOT a WMA, no fees. This is a WMA - hence you must have a permit (the day type for fishing will work).  https://georgiawildlife.com/licenses-permits-passes
