This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join me as I explore the Benton MacKaye Trail sections 8a-8d just south of the Cohuttas. We will start our adventure at Bushy Head Gap where parking is described as a "Wide place in the road". From here we will head generally uphill as we make our way past BearDen Mountain and along a ridge line for most of our hike. We should have good views along the trail as well as an abundance of wildflowers. We will make our way to Fowler Mountain which marks the boundary with the Cohutta Wilderness. This will be our lunch spot. After lunch we will retrace our steps back to our cars and be back to the carpool around 4pm.

This is a difficult D5 event with over 3000 feet of elevation gain. Recent D5 experience is required to join the fun. Under experience adventurers will be moved to the waitlist and should expect an email from the TL to access their compatibility with the group.

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
