Hike Amicalola Falls to the Len Foote

Spectacular scenery awaits along the trail from Amicalola Falls to the Len Foote Hike Inn!  We'll park at the top of the falls.  From there, we'll take the Approach Trail to the Hike Inn.  This hike is a challenging route with several stiff climbs and is not for the beginner.  We will not be on a speed hike, but you should be confident that you can maintain a steady pace up steep ascents with minimal breaks in order to keep up with the group.

A moderate pace should get us to the Hike Inn before noon for a lunch break.  Usually the Hike Inn allows hikers to use their restrooms, but be prepared if that is not the case.  Sometimes drinks and snacks are available in the dining room - a cash tip is customary. 

After our break, we'll take the scenic Len Foote Hike Inn trail and descend to the parking lot.

Option to carpool or meet at the event.  Remember the $5.00 fee for parking, or bring your State Parks annual pass. 

Kody, the TL's yellow Lab will be joining us.  Please reach out to the TL ahead of the event if you want to bring your furkid.  We want to make sure your pup is good with people and other dogs.

DIRECTIONS from GA-400/ I-285 INTERCHANGE in N ATLANTA (Sandy Springs) to AMICALOLA FALLS STATE PARK IF YOU'RE MEETING AT THE EVENT. (about 60 miles or 90 minutes):

1.  From the GA- 400/ I-285 interchange go North on GA-400/US-19 N about 42 miles to the traffic light at GA-136 (a.k.a. Harmony Church Rd).
2.  Turn Left off GA-400 onto GA-136 and follow it westward about 12 miles.
3.  Bear Right onto GA- 342  (Bailey Waters Rd) and go about 3.6 miles.
4.  Turn Left onto GA-52 East and go about 3.9 miles.
5.  Turn Right onto Amicalola Falls State Park Rd, at the park entrance.
6.  Pay for parking and take a restroom break at the Visitor Center, then take the park road directly across from the center - the road will climb steeply -  look for the entrance to the top of the falls parking area on the right.
