I'm restricted to walking on relatively flat surfaces until my two broken wrists heal, but I've really missed seeing the friends I hike with on a regular basis . . . so this is a chance for me to get out and exercise a bit, and to see some of you!  This hike is open to anyone who is willing to keep the pace on the moderately slow side, because I'd like to have the group stay together.  If you're a newcomer to the AOC, you're welcome to join me and become a new friend!

We'll start at the Columns Drive parking lot and loop around to the restrooms at the Interstate North parking lot.  Then, we'll complete the gravel path back to our lot. Please arrive by 9:20 am so that you can park, use the restroom, and meet your fellow hikers. We'll start promptly at 9:30 am, so don't be late!

If you bring a dog, you must keep it on a leash and pick up after your dog if there are any droppings. 

There is a required $5 parking fee at this location.  It's free parking if you have an annual CRNRA pass or an America the Beautiful pass.  If you do not have an entrance pass, please purchase one online before the hike at https://www.recreation.gov/sitepass/2626.

Not much required.  There are water fountains at both ends of the trail, and bathrooms as well.

From I-285 East

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • Left for 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road
  • Go left, cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate LEFT onto Columns Drive.
  • ·Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit.

From I-285 West

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • Right for 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road
  • Go left, cross the Chattahoochee and take an immediate LEFT onto Columns Drive.
  • Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit.

From GA 9 North (Roswell Road)

  • Take Roswell Road to Johnson Ferry Road.
  • Left onto Johnson Ferry Road go about 2.2 miles.
  • Cross the Chattahoochee River and take an immediate left onto Columns Drive.
  • Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit.

From GA 9 South (Roswell Road)

  • Take Roswell Road to Johnson Ferry Road.
  • Right onto Johnson Ferry Road go about 2.2 miles.
  • Cross the Chattahoochee River and take an immediate left onto Columns Drive.
  • Stay on Columns Drive for about 2.6 miles, which will end at the unit.
