Itinerary:

The hike starts off with three miles along the scenic Darnell Creek with cascades and a pretty waterfall view. After reaching Wilson Gap we pick up the Bartram Trail and hike up to the top of Rabun Bald. Rabun Bald is the second highest point in Georgia. There is an observation tower on the top and the view has been described as the best view in Georgia. This sounds like the perfect spot for lunch.

This is an out and back hike. Most of our elevation gain is on the way in. We will encounter 2 water crossings with one that could be shin/knee length but last year at this time was crossed easily by rock-hopping. Make sure you have water shoes and poles for this event just in case

Parking is limited to 2 or 3 cars so once I see the sign ups, I will contact you to arrange to meet at Clayton Ingles where we will fill cars. From here its very close to the trailhead.

Note we will have a second car pool stop at Ingles in Clayton to fill cars due to parking at the trailhead. You will recieve e mail instructions if on the final roster.
