Itinerary:

You are invited to Drew's 1st co-lead with Joyce T at the Jones Bridge unit of the CRNRA. I am really excited about this and hope you can join us.

Jones Bridge is one of the easier hikes in the CRNRA. The trails along the river are flat with several great views of the river, fishermen and water birds. We may even get to see the fishing dog. The inland trails are well maintained and mostly free of roots. There are three moderate hills, the steepest of which is about 150 ft. The total elevation of this hike is about 350 feet. There is also one small creek to cross.  Our pace will be about 2.75 mph and we will go slower up the hills. We will have a very good chance to see deer as well as other critters of the woods.

There are plenty of dry leaves on the trail that make it easy to slip, so be sure to wear hiking/walking shoes with good traction.  Also, one short but steep downhill will be easier with hiking poles.

NOTE: This is NOT the Jones Bridge Park in Gwinnet County. It is the Jones Bridge Unit of the CRNRA on Barnwell Rd in Johns Creek, Fulton County. There are bathrooms at the trail head, not to mention lots of trees in the forest.

CRNRA daily pass is $5. Annual pass is $40. Parking passes can be purchased online at https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm. Daily passes can be purchased on site. No cash accepted.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

I have been informed that Barnwell Rd is closed at Holcomb Bridge Road.  A Detour is necessary! If you are coming on Holcomb Bridge Rd from Hwy 400, turn left onto Old Alabama Rd. If coming from 141 turn right onto Nesbitt Ferry. Merge right onto Old Alabama Road. Turn right onto Jones Bridge Road which shortly turns into Barnwell Rd.  The entrance to the park will be about a half mile on the left with a National Park sign. If coming from Hwy 141 (Medlock Bridge Rd) on Old Alabama, turn left onto Jones Bridge Rd and follow the above directions. Old Alabama is probably the best route rather than Holcomb Bridge.

When you enter the park, drive to the parking lot at the end of the road.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for hike description and introductions.  We will start on time at 10AM.
