Itinerary:

Please join me for a moderately paced loop around Chastain Park, the largest park in Atlanta.  There are no restrooms at  the start of the hike.  We can stop at a restroom about .5 miles after we start the hike if necessary.  We will cover appproximately 3,3 miles and 318 feet in elevation in approximately one hour 15 minutes.  We will be on pavement 90 % of the time.  Distance and elevation are approximate.  

Plese arrive a few minutes early for introductions

 

   

 
 
Notes:

A couple dogs may be allowed as long as they are leashed and well- behaved.  Please be prepared to clean up behind your pet to help keep the park nice for everyone. 

Required Items to Bring:

Comfortable walking shoes for pavement. Hiking shoes are not necessary.

We will meet in the RED parking lot at the corner of Elliott Galloway Way & Powers Ferry Rd NW.

The above photo shows the location of our meeting spot.  The sign will say Red Lot.  Note the Red Lot is the northernmost of the two Horse Park Parking lots.  It is up the hill from the one across from Jett Road.


In google maps, type:  chastain red lot 

 

From south of Chastain Park, go north on Roswell Road to W Wieuca Road NW.

From north of Chastain Park, go south on Roswell Road to W Wieuca Road NW.

Turn onto West Wieuca Road and cross over Lake Forrest Road. This will take you through the park.

Continue west on West Wieuca Road to Powers Ferry Road.

Turn right on Powers Ferry and turn into parking lot on right immediately before Elliott Galloway Way.

Look for the small, wood covered bus stop at the North end of the parking lot.
