Decatur cemetery and surroundings, and optional refreshments

Come join me in a walk through the historic Decatur cemetery and surrounding neighborhoods, with an optional stop at the world-famous Brick Store Pub before walking the .4 miles back to our cars. We will see the "Old Sycamore" neighborhood, one of the oldest cemeteries in Atlanta containing graves dating back to the Revolutionary War, three city champion trees, and Glenlake Park. We will then walk through the Great Lakes and Vidal/Lamont neighborhoods before heading to the Decatur Square on Ponce de Leon. At the square we will have an optional stop at the Brick Store Pub for refreshments before heading down Sycamore Street back to Old Sycamore neighborhood and to our cars. 

Walking at a 2.6 mile per hour pace, it will take just over two hours, but if we stop in the cemetery much it might take longer. It will take about 10 minutes to walk from the Brick Store Pub down Sycamore Street to the Avondale Marta station where we will park.

We will park at the Avondale Marta station's North lot on Sycamore Street at Ponce de Leon. For your GPS use:

That works in both Apple Maps and Google Maps once you choose the Marta station and not the apartments with that name. 915 E Ponce de Leon, Decatur, GA works in Apple Maps only. Both will take you to an entrance to the Marta parking lot. Turn right and park in the lower lot on the right as you face the station (the West end of the lot).
