Berkeley Lake Information & History:  Berkeley Lake, Georgia - Wikipedia

History of Berkeley Lake (Per Microsoft Copilot)

Berkeley Lake is a city in Gwinnett County, Georgia, with a population of 2,054 as of 2020. It was first developed in the late 1940s by Frank Coggins, who named the lake after his granite quarries in Elberton. For many years, it was a summer retreat of fishing cottages, until it was incorporated as a city in 1956. Since then, it has grown into a thriving community with many amenities and attractions, such as a pool, fitness center, soccer field, dog parks, and social activities. It also boasts one of the largest earthen dams in the state, which was constructed in 1948. Berkeley Lake is known for its environmental stewardship and has been named a Tree City USA for 18 years. It is a beautiful and historic place to visit or live in.
