Itinerary: | |||||||
Come out to enjoy most of the trails of Stone Mountain: Cherokee, King's, Songbird, Nature and part of the Walk-up. We'll miss the Muskogee and Evergreen trails for this hike. We will begin on the Walk-up trail to where the Cherokee crosses it. We'll turn onto the Cherokee, desending the mountain and following it around. We'll pick up the the King's Trail on Indian Island and the Songbird Trail on our journey around the mountain And finally, we will be taking a "mystery" trail off the Cherokee. No, this is not the Songbird or King's Trail. We'll be on part of the Nature trail to rejoin the Cherokee. After we have made our way around the mountain, we will follow the Cherokee Trail up the mountain to the Walk-up Trail and walk down to our start. We will be on some steep inclines so shoes with GOOD TREAD are very important. I've seen some unpleasant falls with people wearing everyday sneakers. Pace will be slow and careful on the inclines; moderate on the woodland trails. We will meet by the restrooms at the start of the Walk-up Trail. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to allow time for parking, restroom stop and introductions. | |||||||
