KMNBP Trails Work Days - New Bridge on the 24 Gun Trail Near the Cannons

 Due to the great job we did replacing the bridge in June, we get to replace another bridge in July. The bridge we will be replacing is about two thirds of a mile from the Gilbert Road Parking Lot just past the cannons on the 24 Gun Trail. We will first remove the old bridge than build a new bridge in its place. If we have time at the end we will trim the bushes on both sides of the bidge. This time instead of adding a drainage rail we will also be installing a guard rail on both sides. The new park safety regulations state that if the deck is greater than 36" above the creek it must have a guard rail, This deck will be 47" above the creek.

The 24 Gun Trail will also be closed for this project due to there not being a safe way to have hikers cross this creek while the bridge is being replaced.

We will stay together working as a group & follow the instructions of our Crew Leader(s) of which you will be assigned to my group. We will learn the procedures of how to make our trails better for today & for the future. 

If we have more than 6 sign up, I have the authority to increase this to all that sign up. There will be no waiting list for this event.

From I-75: 

Get off I-75 at exit 267 going toward Marietta.

Turn right on Church Steet for 0.6 miles. 

Turn left on Old Hwy 41 for 1.2 miles.

Turn left on Stilesboro Rd for 1.3 miles.

Turn left on Gilber Rd for 0.2 miles.

The Gilbert parking Lot is on the left, we will be parking in the field on the right.

PARKING PASSES:  Parking passes will be issued to volunteers at the time they arrive. Someone will direct you to the field across the street form the parking lot.
