The hot Summer days are starting to wear on me and I want to try something different to beat the heat. So we will be starting roughly 20 minutes before the official sunrise time. It will just be starting to get light at the start of the event, but if you have trouble seeing in low light you may want to consider bringing a light of some kind for the first couple minutes.

The goal is to finish by 8:00am so that people can make it to work. To accomplish this we will keep a steady pace around 3 mph which is a touch above moderate but on the slow side for fast hikes.

The route we take will be roughly 5 miles. There are some decent sized hills and rocky places but we will make sure to use only official trails along the way so nothing should be too bad. Also be aware that some of the trails that we will be taking are shared with mountain bikers.

Parking is $5 if you do not already have a pass(Chattahoochee or America the Beautiful). Info can be found here https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm . They no longer take cash and you will need internet on your phone to pay.

Additionally if it is raining don't bother calling to see if it is still on. The answer is yes it is. Finally we will be leaving on time and you should be there a few minutes early. If you are late we will not be waiting and the nature of the event makes it very difficult for you to catch up or find us.

Enough water to get you through 5 miles of fast hiking. Only you know how much you need, don't underestimate

Footwear that you are comfortable hiking in
