Itinerary:

7S7W = 7 Sunrises in 7 Weeks!

SUNRISE: 06:42 AM

Calling all Early Birds! This "7 sunrises over 7 weeks" series of hikes around ATL has a three-fold purpose:

1. Beat the summer heat,

2. Catch a spectacular sunrise, and

3. Get your daily workout in before breakfast.

So, what's not to like?

Series #1 - Stone Mountain: We'll start bright and early at the Whistle Stop station (near the restrooms), hike to the summit in time for the sunrise, ooh and aah as the glowing orb appears over the horizon (fingers crossed for only high level clouds), hike down the southwestern face of the rock via the Cherokee trail to circle the lake, and return once again via the Cherokee Trail to the parking lot. Ta daa!

DISCLAIMER: This is a brisk, moderately strenuous hike with 1000+ foot elevation gain and a substantial amount of rock scrambling. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

I will email detailed directions to the participants a few days before the event.

Notes:

1. Please, no unregistered guests or +Ones!
2. Late cancellations, particularly within 36 hours of the event, make it difficult for those on the waitlist to attend. Please be courteous to your fellow AOC members and cancel with as much notice as possible.
3. If you need to get in touch, the best way is to TEXT me with your NAME and details. FYI, thanks to those annoying robocalls, calling me will send you to my voicemail, but feel free to leave a message.
4. I usually hike RAIN-or-SHINE! However, in case of severe weather or other unforeseen emergencies that warrant a cancellation, I will text/email you at least TWO HOURS before the start of the event.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:

There is no cost for this event, however, entry to Stone Mountain Park is $20 per vehicle, or $40 for an annual pass. If you want to avoid the fee, you can park for free on Main Street in Stone Mountain Village and walk or ride your bike for free into the park.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:   Please review the AOC cancellation policy.
*Note:

In order to earn credit for this event, participants must complete the entire hike/event with the group, or within the stated time frame.
