Join me as we explore the ~other side~ of the Jacks River from the Dally Gap trailhead to the Falls. Leave your boots at home and prepare to get wet!

This out and back hike will be the perfect recipe for a hot summer day... over 20 river crossings of the cool, clear Jacks river culminating in a quick swim at the falls. We will be moving at a brisk pace, when the trail allows, and slow down for the sometimes slippery river crossings and blowdowns. Be sure to wear shoes that you will be comfortable hiking in wet all day. We will not be stopping to change shoes at the river crossings. Out goal is to make it to the falls... we may not have enough time. We will stop for lunch between 12 and12:30 and enjoy a swim whether or not we make it to the falls. You will need trekking poles for this hike!

This is a difficult, wilderness hike. Recent D5 experience is required to join the fun. If your experience is outside of the club, please email me with your hiking experience.

For the safety of the group, the river water level should be below 250 CF/sec for an enjoyable hike.

We will meet at Dally Gap at 9;00. Several miles of gravel road driving is required.

After SR 2 becomes gravel, travel approximately 1 mile. The turn off to Service Road 22-2 is incorrect on GPS. It is an acute right turn to a steep service road that has a sign for Hemp Top and Jacks River Trails.

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
