This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Please join us for a moderately fast paced hike at the worlds largest college campus hiking trails - Berry College.

This event is in a WMA that DOES NOT require a WMA permit.

We are going to hiking several trails that will get us to an elevation gain just over 1500'.

Pace will be between 2.5 and 2.8 mph.

Our starting point is a hike up to Frost Chapel and then onto the Hurtin Goat trail (part gravel and part dirt) then onto Longleaf Pine (dirt).

Then along the Snow Loop (part dirt/part gravel) and return to the cars.

It is a multiple loop hike. Don't worry, we have the track loaded and paper maps.

These are beautiful trails - it's been a long time since I've been out there.

The drive from the P&R is approximately an hour long, we'll find some restrooms along the way.

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR Drivers License with you.

The timeline of this event is an estimate based on the pace of hike, lunch, and scenery. Please be flexible.

Driving Directions to Frost Chapel Directions begin from the front Gate of Berry College. If you need additional assistance, you can ask the staff at the Welcome Center for directions and a campus map. • Stay straight until you get to the roundabout. • Take the second right off of the roundabout and veer slightly to the left as you follow the road off of the roundabout, this road is called Deerfield Drive. • Continue to the stop sign and take a right onto Road of Remembrance • At the next stop sign continue straight, take a left onto Memorial Drive and follow it for approximately 3.2 miles. • At the end of this road, you will go over a large speed bump and come to an intersection. • Veer to your right and follow this road past Swan Lake. • Again, veer to the right and follow the road over a small stone bridge. • Frost Chapel will be on your right and the parking lot will be straight ahead on your right. *Please remind your guests that Frost Chapel is located on the Mountain Campus of Berry’s campus and is an additional 15 to 20-minute drive from the main gates of campus.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $40.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
