Tickets for the Banff Film Festival will go FAST, if interested, book your tickets at signup for the event.

UPDATE: Group size has been increased with DOE approval.

We will be hiking the Bear Hair Gap Trail (counter clockwise) and then continue on the Coosa Backcountry trail back to Vogel State Park (loop trail). We will then make our way in and out along Trahlyta Lake to the falls. While this may be relatively short for a mountain hike, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view and mountain scenery that includes a lovely lake and waterfall.

The BHGT has some water crossings, rock hopping usually works, but I would suggest waterproof boots.

Total distance 5.5 miles with an elevation gain of just over 1000 feet. This is a moderate paced hike, if you want to go faster, this hike is not for you. Pace will be around 2.2 to 2.5 mph.

Lunch will be either at the park (after the hike) or in Blairsville depending on your plans.

OPTIONAL: After the hike we will drive 17 miles to Blairsville for a 2pm showing of the Banff Film Festival. Tickets go on sale February 11th in the afternoon and may be purchased at : EventBrite/Banff Mountain Film Festival-Blairsville. Additional information can be found on the GATC Events website. At 1pm the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club will be giving a talk about the work they do, if interested in listening or joining this group - please consider attending this 1PM session. Both are being held at the Union County Fine Arts, 926 Panther Overlook, Blairsville, GA 30512. Tickets are $25 per person.

Notes:

There is a $5.00 State Park fee per vehicle that can be bought at the park visitor's office.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:

$5.00 per vehicle for parking if you don't have a yearly State Parks Pass.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review the AOC cancellation policy.
